I really hit the jackpot with the Aathal Dinosaur Museum!  Located about half an hour outside of Zurich, the “Sauriermuseum” as it’s called out there actually houses 4 complete Stegosaur skeletons within its walls.  A ridiculous number!  You’ll definitely be hearing more about this place in future entries, but the first specimen I wanted to talk about is the one they call “Moritz,” named after a famous German children’s book character.  Moritz was excavated in the Shell Valley area of Wyoming, which up until his discovery had only been thought of as a place where Sauropods and Allosaurs lived.  Recognizing that Stegosaurs existed there too changed the landscape in terms of how Paleontologists envisioned the area.  Now they are able to paint a more complete picture of the Shell Valley which always leads to further breakthroughs in understanding of how these ancient animals lived.
