There’s nothing I love more than an unexpected bonus museum!  While visiting the incredible dinosaurs at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, I learned that there was a smaller sister museum about half an hour away in Sugar Land, TX.  Part of this 2nd museum’s function was to house some of the many awesome displays that couldn’t fit in the main building.  I’ve had some of the curators of these museums tell me that only 5% of their collections ever see the light of day in exhibits.  Most things are housed safely in storage, which is good because they are well-preserved, but it’s a drag that no one gets to see them!  In any case, this Hesperosaurus skeleton is a great one, and is clearly distinguishable from Stegosaurus by its rounder skull, and more circular plates.  I’m so glad this one was displayed so nicely (in front of a replica of the flat Stegosaurus fossil from Laramie, WY), instead of gathering dust in a basement!
