After some rest and recovery from flying halfway around the world, my buddy Joe and I took a car service out into the deep Spanish countryside. Teruel, our destination that day, is a beautiful, medieval looking city about 3 hours outside of the capital. It has all the stone-work and narrow streets of classical Europe, but these days its biggest claim to fame is a dinosaur theme park called Dinopolis, which clearly draws in tourists from all over the continent. The amusement rides and shows were the focus for most of the visitors, which fortunately left more of the museum open for Joe and I to take our time and wander around. We were both blown away, as the museum had some of the best lighting and staging I’ve ever seen in any dinosaur exhibit. The Stegosaurus was uniquely posed, climbing a rock while spotlights cycled through various colors to make everything feel extremely dramatic. I have to give special thanks to Joe for repeatedly waiting around for the Stegosaurus to turn blue (my favorite color) before taking any of the pictures. That’s serious friendship right there!
