I recently found a website that allows you to find the opposite point of any location on Earth. I typed in the name of the small New Jersey town I grew up in, and the response the site gave me was a wilderness point in the Western end of Australia. That fact was going through my head as I looked at the Stegosaurus display at the Australian Museum in Sydney. Somehow my life and career have taken me all the way to the other side of the planet…and because of this Dinoquest, I’ve also gotten to see amazing fossils from around the world and appreciate their many variations. It’s kind of poetic in a way that this particular specimen (The most faraway one from where I grew up) reminded me so much of the New York Stegosaurus I always visited as a kid. It’s got that same elegant look to the plates, along with a lighting system underneath it that changes colors like the display in Brussels. Just a beautiful sight!
