2 hours south of Amsterdam lies the beautiful town of Boxtel.  It’s surprising that a municipality of only 30,000 people would have one of the nicest dinosaur displays in Europe, but that’s part of the charm of the wonderful Oertijd museum.  In addition to a huge, walkable park with various dinosaur sculptures through the ages, the museum features a large glass room full of skeletons.  The clear walls give you a sense of how these creatures looked in nature, which isn’t always the case with displays like these.  The Stegosaurus itself is posed with the head turned upwards, which clearly shows the balance between the front of the animal and its outstretched tail.  What a cool thing for the people of this little town to get to call their own!
