Surprisingly, this is the 2nd diner-related entry to this website that I’ve added recently. Who knew “diner-saurs” were a thing? Along the highway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas is Peggy Sue’s classic 50 Diner, complete with jukeboxes, soda fountains, and a dinosaur “fun park” in the backyard. I had stopped here many years ago on a road trip, but forgot where it was once I officially started my Stego-quest. Luckily there are signs posted about this place on Route 15 about a hundred miles before you come to its exit, so I got the refresher I needed while randomly driving east of LA one day!
The dinosaur statues are charmingly dilapidated, (as you can see from the Stegosaurus’ flattened backplate,) but as always, that only makes me like them more. The crumbling nature of some of these places serves to remind me how lucky I am to get to see them while they are still standing. This quest has really added a lot of adventure to my life, especially since I’m old enough now to realize how short our time is here. There was a quote I saw recently about this subject that I liked. It goes “The trail is the thing, not the end of the trail. Travel too fast and you miss all you are traveling for.” – Louis L’ Amour
