Down in the heart of Georgia lies a huge renovation project aiming to raise Savannah’s national profile as a destination city. Entire blocks are being restored and updated with the hopes of creating a walkable party town like Austin or New Orleans. One of the crown jewels of this project is the JW Marriott Riverside, a former power plant that has been converted into a dinosaur-themed luxury hotel. My kind of progress! Among the exhibits on display in the hotel are a meteor encased in glass, a chrome-dipped Sauropod skeletal cast, and this replica of the classic Stegosaurus specimen from the University of Wyoming. This version hangs in front of the second floor over a large collection of meteorites and gemstones from around the world. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you get the chance. Any place where you can roll out of bed and see dinosaurs is a 5-star winner in my book!
