There are so many terrific dinosaur museums in and around the Salt Lake City area, but I think Eccles Dinosaur Park is my favorite. There are 2 great Stegosaur displays here, including a beautiful Hesperosaurus, but the picture I took with that one came out blurry, so I guess I’ll have to go back for a second try next time I’m in Utah. (Oops!) This display is a recreation of a famous fossil which has also been seen in my previous entries at the University of Wyoming and the HMNS at Sugar Land. A paleontologist at Eccles told me that the original skeleton these displays are based off of is in a private collection and unavailable for scientific research, but that he is “working on fixing that situation.” I have no idea what that means, but hopefully it involves him infiltrating a billionaire’s mansion and pulling off an Indiana Jones-style mega heist. Not that I endorse grand theft, but you know that Indy’s position would be that “it belongs in a museum!”
