Like the Everhart museum in Scranton, PA, the Anniston Museum of Natural History only has one dinosaur skeleton on display…but hey, when it’s the right dinosaur, who cares? The museum’s major focus seems to be more on birds, which does fit in a way since birds are believed to be direct decedents of dinosaurs. There is a large branch of dinosaurs known as “ornithischians,” who had pelvic structures that resemble modern day birds. Additionally, impressions of feathers have been discovered on the fossilized remains of certain dinosaurs, strengthening the belief in this connection. The simplest evidence, however, is often right in front of us. Take a look at a chicken’s feet the next time you see one. They may look more “lizard-y” than you think.
