Greensboro, NC – Greensboro Science Center
Of all the Stegosaurus displays I’ve seen so far, the Greensboro Science Center in North Carolina takes the gold medal for “Most Unique.” The curators decided to actually split the skeleton up into two sections. The main section of the body is in its own room, surrounded by a stone enclosure. It is missing the skull and instead has the neck bones extending into one of the walls. On the other side of that wall, a sculpture of a “living” Stegosaurus head peers into the next room. The visual effect created makes it look as if the dinosaur is “coming to life” as it walks through the wall. What a cool idea! I would have loved that when I was a kid. (And for the completionists in the crowd, the skeleton’s actual skull is also on display in a glass case in the next room.) This is just one of the many different ways I’m witnessing these animals posed as this quest goes on. Each one is its own work of art, and I’m always blown away by the passion and creative energy that goes into their presentation.About The Writer
Dan Avidan is the lead singer of Ninja Sex Party, and a comedian on the YouTube show Game Grumps. What is not as well-known about him is that he is also a huge lover of dinosaurs.
Dav Avidans obession for dinosaurs all started when he was five years old and his grandfather took him to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Dan Avidan was immediately captivated by the dinosaur skeletons and was mystified that these ancient animals actually existed.
